(Los Angeles, Calif., 24 de mayo) - SESAC Latina celebró los éxitos mundiales de sus compositores y editoras en sus premios anuales SESAC LATINA MUSIC AWARDS anoche en el Beverly Hills Hotel. SESAC Latina, la organización de derechos musicales, presentó sus premios por rotación radial, premios de televisión y los máximos galardones a sus compositores y editoras afiliadas.

Los presentadores de los premios fueron Celeste Zendejas, Directora de SESAC Latina, Sam Kling, Vicepresidente de Operaciones Creativas de SESAC y Eliezer Ponce, Director Asociado de SESAC Latina. Durante el transcurso de la velada, los ejecutivos de SESAC dieron un agradecimiento especial Sound Royalties por su patrocinio y a City National Bank patrocinador oficial del evento.

Edén Muñoz recibió su primer premio como Compositor del Año por las exitosas canciones que escribió para Julión Álvarez, Calibre 50 y Banda Carnaval, entre otros. Muñoz es el compositor y cantante principal del super groupo Calibre 50, y este año fue nominado como Compositor del Año en los Billboard Latin Music Awards.

En la categoría de Canción del Año, determinada por la duración que un tema se mantiene en las listas de popularidad, el SESAC Latina Award fue para "Despacito", canción grabada por Luis Fonsi y Daddy Yankee en colaboración con Justin Bieber, y escrita por Erika Ender.

Además, SONY / ATV fue nombrada Editora del Año. Con su equipo aceptando en persona el premio durante la gala, Jorge Mejía, presidente de SONY / ATV Music Publishing para América Latina y Estados Unidos, se dirigió a la audiencia por video.


Ganadores del Premio SESAC Latina 2018

El aclamado cantante y compositor mexicano Christian Nodal interpretó un increíble popurrí de sus mayores éxitos, "Me deje Llevar", "Adiós Amor" y "Probablemente"; las dos últimas canciones fueron #1 en la lista Regional Mexicana de Billboard por la cual Nodal ganó un premio SESAC Latina como compositor. A principios de este mes, en los Billboard Latin Music Awards 2018, Nodal recibió el premio Regional Mexican Song of the Year por su éxito “Adiós Amor”. También se llevó a casa los premios Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Solo y Artist of the Year, New. Además, a principios de este mes en las oficinas de SESAC en Santa Monica, California, la Directora de Servicios Creativos de SESAC Latina, Celeste Zendejas, sorprendió a Nodal con una placa conmemorativa por su canción “Me Dejé Llevar” que alcanzó la posición #1 en la lista Regional Mexicana de Billboard.

La ganadora del Latin GRAMMY® y nominada al GRAMMY® Erika Ender fue honrada con el premio SESAC Latina Global Icon Award. Como cantautora, Ender ha lanzado seis álbumes de estudio, y ha escrito canciones que han sido incluidas en más de 140 álbumes. Al menos 40 canciones escritas por Ender han llegado a la cima de las listas de todo el mundo. El nombre de Erika Ender quedará grabado en los libros de historia gracias a su canción "Despacito", que coescribió con Luis Fonsi. La canción que ha roto todos los records cuenta con más de 7.5 billones de streams, incluyendo 1.9 billones de reproducciones en Spotify y 5.66 billones de visitas en YouTube, y cambió la forma en que la música en español es aceptada por personas de todo el mundo.

(Los Angeles, Calif., May 24) SESAC Latina celebrated the worldwide successes of its songwriters and publishers at its annual SESAC LATINA MUSIC AWARDS last night at the Beverly Hills Hotel.  SESAC Latina, the music rights organization, presented its performance awards, television awards, and top honors to its affiliate songwriters and publishers.

On hand to present the awards were Celeste Zendejas, Director of SESAC Latina, Sam Kling, SESAC’s Senior Vice President of Creative Operations and Eliezer Ponce, Associate Director of SESAC Latina.  During the course of the evening, SESAC executives gave a special thanks to the event’s official sponsor, City National Bank, as well as presenting sponsor Sound Royalties. 
 
Edén Muñoz was awarded his first-ever Songwriter of the Year award for hit songs he penned for Julión Álvarez, Calibre 50, Banda Carnaval and others.  Muñoz is the songwriter and lead singer of the superstar group Calibre 50, and this year was nominated for Songwriter of the Year at the Billboard Latin Music Awards.

In the category of Song of the Year, which is determined by the longevity of a song’s presence on the charts, the SESAC Latina Award went to “Despacito”, recorded by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber, written by Erika Ender.

In addition, SONY/ATV was named Publisher of the Year.  With his team accepting in person at the celebration, Jorge Mejia, President of SONY/ATV Music Publishing for Latin America and U.S. Latin, addressed the audience via video.

Acclaimed Mexican singer-songwriter Christian Nodal performed an incredible set of his top hits including “Me Dejé Llevar”, “Adiós Amor” and “Probablemente”, the last two were #1 on the Billboard Regional Mexican chart for which Nodal won a SESAC Latina performance award as songwriter. Earlier this month at the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2018, Nodal received the award for Regional Mexican Song of the Year for his hit “Adiós Amor".  He also took home the awards for Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Solo and Artist of the Year, New.  In addition, SESAC’s Celeste Zendejas, Director, Creative Services, surprised Nodal with a #1 Award for his song “Me Dejé Llevar” earlier this month at the SESAC Latina office in Santa Monica, California.

Latin GRAMMY® winner and GRAMMY® nominee Erika Ender was honored with the SESAC Latina Global Icon Award.  As a singer-songwriter, Ender has released six studio albums and songs that she has written are featured on more than 140 albums, and 40 of them have topped charts around the world.  Ender’s place in the history books has been secured by her song “Despacito” which she wrote with Luis Fonsi.  The ground-breaking song has been streamed over 7.5 billion times, including 1.9 billion times on Spotify and more than 5.6 billion views on YouTube, and has influenced the acceptance of Spanish language music around the globe.

Additional winners include Luciano Luna, last year’s Songwriter of the Year, Nicky Jam, Joey Montana, Tony Montoya, Juan Diego Medina and others.
